Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of emotional intelligence on employees‟
organizational commitment in case of Debre Berhan municipality will be guided by four research
objectives, which sought answers by investigating the role of social-awareness and relationship
management, assess influence of self-management and examine the effect of self-awareness dimensions
of emotional intelligence on employees‟ organizational commitment the correlational between the
effect of emotional intelligence and employees‟ organizational commitment, adopted the descriptive
research design and specifically the correlational research study to make inferences on the 240 staffs‟
employees‟ of Debre Berhan town municipality office through a cross functional research will be
achieving employees‟ organizational commitment factors of affective, continuance and normative
commitment.
The independent variables of self-awareness, self-management, social awareness and relationship
management and dependent variable of employees‟ organizational commitment as indicated by
descriptive analysis had a mean distribution and a standard deviation of are relatively moderate, which
indicates that the employees‟ organizational commitment on some employees‟ are controlling their own
emotional intelligence by examining and investigating the effect of emotional intelligence on
employees‟ organizational commitment in the MUNICIPALITY Office.
The regression analysis results show that the independent variables that are self- management, social
awareness and relation management will affect employees‟ organizational commitment (Y) positively
statistically significant and have significant influence on employees‟ organizational commitment.
The other independent variable of self- awareness is not affect employees‟ organizational commitment
(Y) positively statistically insignificant and have not influence on employees‟ organizational
commitment and not fitted in the model.
