Abstract:
This study emphasizes the effectiveness of project management tools and techniques for
project performance and its objective is assessing project management tools and techniques
effectiveness in project performance in non-government organization regards to World
Vision Ethiopia project management practice. The study was performed in quantitative
research approaches. To reveal the effectiveness of project management tools and
techniques, survey research design was used. All population of the survey considered as a
census. The data analysis was performed by inferential and descriptive statistics. The data
analysis was processed by IBM SPSS statistical software version 20. The total population
size was 81 of which questionnaires were distributed to all population within three cluster
program office in World Vision Ethiopia Amhara regional office. Out of which, 62
questionnaires were returned from project and program manager, project coordinator&
officer and finance officer. Project management tools and techniques like Log frame
analysis, learning through evaluation Accountability planning, and Work break down
structure, Progress report, Project evaluation review tool and Communication plan have
been effectively utilized in World vision Ethiopia. In contrary Cost accounting, Risk analysis,
Critical path method and Gant chart has not been in good way of utilization. All project
management tools and techniques have a positive correlation with project performance. And
Stakeholder Analysis, Critical path method, Responsibility matrix, Organizational structure
chart, Risk analysis, contingency analysis has a positive but not statistically significant
correlation with sales performance. The researcher concluded that the World Vision
Ethiopia have been implemented some important tools which are appropriate for the context
itself.
